Rebecca Proctor is a ceramicist based in North Cornwall. Her work adopts a soft muted palette that reminds us of pale rocks found on the shoreline. The fact that she uses locally sourced clay adds to that sense of place in her pottery. Subtle facets or speckled glazing makes Rebecca's work intriguing and ever satisfying to use.
The greys and greens found in the glaze of these pieces could almost reflect the winter sea around the North Cornish coast. When the water goes so deep in colour it could be mistaken for black, these pieces have that same quality. The mute matte of the surface is broken up by subtle movement and over lapping of glaze. They sit wonderfully against a pale wooden surface, allowing the rich colour to sing.
No need for cupboards, these objects will happy sit out in the open.
