Marks Earthen

80.00

Daisy Cooper’s connection to the landscape is clear and simple. She searches for a sense of wilderness through her rugged forms; each piece bares the marks of the making process much the same as the environment leaves on the landscape. Having grown up in rural Scotland, Daisy now connects herself back to those rural roots through her ceramics made in London.

‘Earthen’ is a deeper searching for a richer connection to the landscape. This collaborative project has followed Daisy from the Bog of Balloch where she returned to her childhood home to dig a very specific and particularly special clay. The clay of her homely surroundings, where she grew up and stomped the land before flying to roost. Full of Scottish minerals and natural colouring, each of these pieces have been born out of the idea of forming from the land to one day end up back there completely untouched by the unnatural. Daisy has smoked fired these pieces and finished them in beeswax, no man made material has touched ‘Earthen’.

This project has been truly inspiring to follow; the feel of the land resonates in the surface of the clay.
