Limed Ash Bowl

100.00

Found in the winding country lanes that run along side the Fal Estuary in Cornwall you will find Head & Haft in a rural workshop. A multi disciplinary product studio, started a couple of years ago from a farm yard space. Their process of making drew us in immediately; they adopted a simple ethos to use English woods to make beautiful objects.

Traditionally waxed limed, these bowls are saturated with beeswax which is then rubbed into the grain and buffed off. Over a period of repeatedly following this process the grain of the wood will collect the wax to create this beautifully undulating surface. The patterning is almost hypnotic with the lines flowing across the bowl, we could spend a good amount of time studying the growth rings of the Ash.

A love a first sight kind of piece.
