Claire Kinsella uses locally foraged willow along with her own grown crops to create her utterly wonderful baskets. Traditional in every way yet there seems to prevail a modern look to her work. Curved edges meet straight lines, the rustic material is weaved into contemporary forms. Claire has a skill that comes naturally to her, from the basketry process itself right through to her keen eye for spotting hedgerow gems to incorporate into each piece.
This Polish Basket combines Dicky Meadows willow with wild Kingston willow. Another of Claire's baskets with an unusual feature, the long gnarled handle is foraged from Claire's village, a sculptural addition that we love. It's a real pleasure to watch Claire take her baskets in unusual and utterly beautiful directions.
A truly wonderful work of art that has enough strength to be used daily for many years to come.
