Leach Pottery Jug

£16.00

In the depths of Cornwall, situated in St Ives, the Leach Pottery has been producing the best studio pottery since 1920. Over the last hundred years it has forged the shape of ceramics in the UK and beyond. Scores of potters, students and apprentices, from across the world have trained there, creating a uniquely international environment in the heart of Cornwall and maintaining the Pottery's creative principle of East/West exchange. The Leach Pottery is considered by many to be the birthplace of British studio pottery. One of the great figures of 20th century art, Bernard Leach played a crucial pioneering role in creating an identity for artist potters across the world.

These jugs are part of the Leach Standard Ware collection, pieces to be used everyday. Robust, charming and beautifully handmade, each jug holds its own character. Dipped in their dolomite glaze, leaving an exposed raw clay bottom, each jug has an incredible amount of texture and we particular love the burst of dark tenmoku glaze around the lip.
