Owen Jones was taught to make Oak Swill baskets in 1988 from one of the last Swillers still producing these beautiful baskets. His connection from past to present, making these baskets in the Lake District as one of the last Swillers around is magical. He has continued a tradition that could have quite easily been lost. Owen coppices his own materials in the Rusland Valley, from the start of the process to the end Owen is totally in tune with the wood. The hazel is steam bent into the distinctive oval shape, the oak is sawn, cleft, boiled and woven giving the most incredible colours of pale golden oak through to dark charcoal greys. Its an honour to be working with Owen.

This Oak Swill is perfect for everyday use around the home or garden. It’s not too big or small, comfortable to carry and looks beautiful. Unique in its natural markings, this strong basket will last you a lifetime.
