Sycamore Serving Bowl

40.00

Yoav Elkayam lives in a way that seems almost lost to us now; he travels around spending time with makers and friends, exchanging skills and woodenwares for time and space. A far cry from our offices and concrete jungles, he searches for places to make where wifi won't be found. Yoav spent a week in a Herefordshire woodland turning and carving us a select range of everyday goods from foraged timber.

This Sycamore Bowl has been shaped and turned by an axe and man power. Watching Yoav use his pole lathe, a simple machine made up of a foot treadle and pole, couldn't be more purely simple. A traditional form of making which has been used for centuries yet it still makes so much sense to us today. The character of each piece is governed by the timbers growth, the natural marks and most importantly the makers skill.
